acupuncture session

Acupuncture is a therapy involving placing needles in the surface of the skin to stimulate and correct the flow of qi (chi) in the body. This is said to help improve chronic health conditions. Needles are placed on specific areas said to correspond to paths of qi (energy flow) in the body.

Acupuncture styles

There are different styles of acupuncture, such as Japanese acupuncture, auricular acupuncture (using the ear), and Korean hand acupuncture - which uses the hand. Japanese acupuncture uses smaller needles and can be used in two modes - either local, which tries to treat a localised area of the body, or root, which addresses energy imbalances across the whole body.

Auricular acupuncture (which started in France) and Korean hand acupuncture draw simlarities to reflexology wich uses stimulation of points on the feet, hands or ears to effect a healing result.
